The Craft Fair was a huge success.

Wow!! The Craft Fair

is behind us and if I do say so myself it was a great success. Thanks to all who helped put this great event together. Two lucky ticket buyers won a beautiful quilt each. Photos will soon be on the blog --- but before then I would like to catch up on what has been happening of late and get those pictures up.
So here we go.

September Workshop

The ladies of the guide got together for a Military Strippers day in Sept. We did a lot of stripping (2 1/2" strips), chatting, and eating.

Charity Quilting

I am so behind in sharing pictures from all of the guild meeting that I don't think I've ever posted the photos of the June & July charity collections.  So, here's what we made to donate in June & July...

"Genesis House" Women & Children's Shelter

"Military Quilts" for Wounded Warriors & Veterans(see more about the recipients of these quilts on the "Military Quilts" tab above)

"Baby Quilts" for GLWACH Military Hospital

Charity Quilting in April

For the first few months of this year, each of our 3 charity coordinators took turns issuing a challenge to the guild for a specific goal to meet.  This month, members were asked to donate either a baby bib, hot pad, pillowcases, or cuddle quilt for a local women and children's shelter called the Genesis House.  Our members lived up to that challenge and many items were certainly donated this month!

And of course we didn't forget about our other charities...

3 quilts for the Veterans
6 quilts for the newborn babies
And, generously, this month, The Thread Peddler of Waynesville, MO, donated a bunch of pillowcase kits for members to sew up and bring back for donation to the Genesis House!  Thank you Thread Peddler!

Baby Quilts

One of the charities GTPQG supports is GLWACH, providing baby quilts for lower enlisted families when their little ones are born.

February Donations - Challenge Month for Baby Quilts
March Donations
So far this year, we've gathered 31 baby quilts to donate!  Let's keep up the good work!

Veteran's Quilts

Another of the charities GTPQG supports are our local Wounded Warrior Rehabilitation Center and Veteran's Home.  Being this close to Fort Leonard Wood Army Base, really means we have plenty of work to do in this area!  And, Kathi, who heads up this project, is even willing to do the longarm quilting (just be sure to provide the top, back and batting)...now there's no excuses!

March Donations - Veteran's Quilt Challenge Month
Kathi will even take in knitted and crocheted blankets as there is a great need here!

Genesis House

There are four main charities that GTPQG supports:  Habitat for Humanity (generally, one quilt/year needed), GLWACH (baby quilts), Veteran's Quilts, and Genesis House (local battered women and children's shelter).  Mary heads up this charity project for our guild.

February Donations
March Donations
This month, Mary challenged guild members to make something to donate to Genesis House.  There are a variety of things needed including:  pillowcases, baby bibs, pot holders, hot pads, and cuddle quilts.  This is a great project for trying out a new pattern for small items...give it a try!
